The Terminal rail traffic is handled by the Richmond Pacific Railroad (RPRC). Within the Terminal, the wharves are equipped with double tracks and served by a network of spur tracks. Thereafter, railcars are transferred to the holding yard which connects directly to the transfer tracks of the Union Pacific (UP) and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF). These companies maintain rail car classification yards near the Terminal and provide frequent rail car switching services to the PRT.
All switching of railroad cars at the Terminal is performed by the Richmond Pacific Railroad operating over 13,000 feet of track. |
